Baby toddler home > Baby clothes and equipment > Right Baby Toys > Toddler DollsMost babies and toddlers are fascinated with children their own ages. I don’t know why this is, but I saw it all the time when my daughter was younger. If she saw a baby or a child she would stop what she was doing and study them intently. I guess she recognized that she was looking at someone who was just like her. She is the only young child in our family right now, so perhaps that was why she was so fascinated. She may have thought she was the only one! I soon found that if I bought her a toddler doll that she would have a pretend companion to play with. When I say toddler dolls, I mean dolls that look just like human babies and toddlers. They don’t have to be totally realistic, but they do have to be the average size and likeness of a young child. Children always seem to love toddler dolls, and my daughter had two of them that she cared for all of the time. She fed them, put them to bed, and played with them for many hours. I loved to see her being so gentle with them, and I think it taught her to be kind to real children her age. You can find toddler dolls almost anywhere, and many of them don’t have to cost you a lot of money. As long as they are the right size and don’t have any distorted features, your toddler should love to have one. If they have eyes that are too big, or perhaps if they are way to big, you might want to look for different toddler dolls to bring home to your kids. Dolls that have somewhat distorted features are great for older kids –think Cabbage Patch Kids- but for toddlers, you want to stick with realistic so they aren’t frightened. You can add to the fun of playing with toddler dolls buy getting ones that come with a stroller or baby seat. You kids many enjoy taking them for walks or pretending to feed them. They will want to use the toddler dolls to mimic what you do with them every day. Some parents like to buy strictly educational toys, but I think these toddler dolls are some of the most educational toys of all. What could be a more important lesson than how to treat others with kindness and care? I can’t think of anything, can you? Other resources
