Pregnant Women

I don’t know why it is, but it seems that pregnant women often become public property. I know that statement may sound a little odd, but if you talk to anyone who has had a baby recently, they will probably tell you that this is true. Every time I see a stranger walk up to a pregnant woman and put their hands on their growing stomach, I wince. I remember when my husband and I were trying to get pregnant that a relative of his would often come up and put his hand on my stomach. Even though I wasn’t pregnant yet, he still thought it was okay to touch me without my permission.

There is something beautiful about a pregnant woman. Many people either remember becoming pregnant, or they wish that they had had more babies in their life. This often makes a pregnant woman the target of the lot of attention. However, this does not mean that this woman will welcome the attention. Many pregnant women feel self-conscious as it is, and when a stranger approaches them with unwanted advice or advances, they often become irritated and agitated, though they try their best to hide it.

If you see pregnant women, remember that their pregnancy does not mean you have permission to touch them. If you were to walk up to any other woman in place your hands on her stomach without asking her, you would probably be punched in the face. Many pregnant women understand why people do this, but that does not mean that they like it. Always ask permission before you touch anyone, and this goes for pregnant women as well. Putting your hands on their stomach could be considered one of the rudest things you could do.

If you are one of the pregnant women who enjoys his type of attention, enjoy it while it lasts. However, if you do not like this, and someone touches you when you do not want them to, make sure you speak up. It may stop them from doing it to someone else in the future. Explained that even though you are a pregnant woman, you still are the owner of your own body, and you do not want somebody touching you without asking. It can be quite unnerving, and I don’t know how many pregnant women put up with it. Don’t be afraid to say no.
