Infant Car Seat

There was one thing I didn’t know having a baby. Perhaps this is because I have never had a baby of my own. When my best friend gave birth to her daughter, she asked me to run back to her house to get her infant car seat. So I knew it was important to have a car seat for any child under the age of five, I did not know that the hospital would not release her daughter until she had one in her car. This is of course, a great idea, but I had no idea rules were in place at the hospital.

Not only is it important to have the proper Infant car seat when you leave the hospital, it is important that you have it installed properly. You might be surprised how hard it is to install the car seat the proper way. Many communities have programs where a police officer or other local official will show you how to correctly installed the car seat. They may inspect how you have put yours in your car, and then show you how to do it correctly. If a car seat is not installed correctly your child is not protected as well as they could be.

When you go to buy an infant car seat you may want to make sure you buy a brand new one. There are a lot of places that offer secondhand car seats for sale, but that does not mean you should buy one. There can be a lot of things wrong with a car seat that are not immediately visible. An infant car seat that has been in an accident should never be used again. Though they may look okay on the outside, there may be fatal flaws within the car seat that render it unsafe for further use.

That being said, when you go to buy an infant car seat you should go and buy one brand new. You may be able to buy a good used crib, or a good used stroller, but you should never buy a used car seat. If you think you cannot afford to buy a brand new infant car seat you should know that they are probably less expensive than you think. You can get a good, safe infant car seat for under $20 if you know where to shop. Keep an eye on local sales, and go out to look when you find them on sale at a price you can easily afford. When it comes to taking care of your child, you should never skimp on the car seat.
